The Korea Australia Future Forum (KAFF) is an annual flagship 1.5 track dialogue, co-hosted by the Australia-Korea Foundation (AKF) and the Korea Foundation (KF). The KAFF covers the three pillars of the Australia - Republic of Korea (ROK) Comprehensive Strategic Partnership:
- Strategic and Security Cooperation
- Economic, Innovation and Technology Cooperation
- Enhancing People-to-People Links.
The KAFF brings together Australian and Korean senior representatives from government, academia and industry to engage in dialogue on key areas of future bilateral cooperation.
Its location alternates between Australia and the ROK. The inaugural KAFF was held in Seoul in 2022. It was subsequently held in Canberra in 2023 and Seoul in 2024.
The fourth KAFF was held in Sydney on 28 August 2025.
During the fourth KAFF, Dr Scott Watkins, AKF Chair, and Amb Kim Gheewhan, KF President, signed a Joint Statement committing to deepen mutual understanding and promote sustained engagement between Australia and the ROK.
Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator the Hon Penny Wong, and the ROK's Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Cho Hyun, delivered keynote addresses via video at the 4th KAFF.
Korea Australia Future Youth Forum
The Korea Australia Future Youth Forum (KAFYF), a recommendation from the second KAFF in 2023, brings together Australian and Korean young professionals and university students to consider youth perspectives on the future of the Australia-ROK relationship. Mirroring the KAFF's lead, discussion at the KAFYF also spans across the full breadth of the Australia-ROK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. KAFYF delegates also take part in the main KAFF discussion.
The inaugural KAFYF occurred alongside the third KAFF in Seoul in 2024. The second KAFYF took place alongside the fourth KAFF in Sydney in August 2025.
