2018 ACDGP grantees
Sector: Performing arts, dance
Grantee: Shaun Parker & Company
Project description
Shaun Parker and Company will undertake a large cultural exchange project featuring performances of new work "KING" and critically acclaimed work "Happy as Larry" to five countries across two regions including the Middle East and Western Europe. New work KING will tour to Lebanon, Jordan, Ramallah and Linz and, Happy as Larry to Germany and Austria. Conceptually, the new work KING interrogates the theme of societal power, and reflects on the absurd grandiosity of our leaders, whilst critically acclaimed Happy of Larry investigates the complexities of human happiness within society. Artistic Director Shaun Parker and the visiting dance artists will conduct a range of engagement activities including workshops, artist forums and mentorship to support on-going artistic relationships with local dancers, sharing cultural exchange of contemporary dance practice between the Middle East and Western Europe region and Australia.
