Sydney Dance Company and Australian String Quartet: International Tour 2020

This new collaborative project will combine several high profile Australian dance, choreography and musical works, demonstrating Australian cultural excellence across multiple art forms. It will tour to regions less travelled, such as Central and South America.

Project description

Sydney Dance Company will co-commission a major new dance work, Impermanence in collaboration with Australian String Quartet to tour with Australian choreographer Melanie Lane's work WOOF. Impermanence will premiere in Australia before heading on tour to several South American cities and the United Kingdom. Performances will showcase the critically acclaimed ab [intra] and sees Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela join forces with Bryce Dessner of iconic American rock band The National who will compose a new score to be premiered live on stage by the Australian String Quartet.

Bryce Dessner’s music composition Impermanence is co-commissioned by the Australian String Quartet and Sydney Dance Company. This commission has also been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body.
