Project description

A collaborative, international exchange and creative development program dedicated to the creation and exposure of world-class visual sonic art in Melbourne, Australia and Glasgow, Scotland. The SUBSTATION and Glasgow-based arts presenter Cryptic will continue to develop their artist exchange program, creating more immersive and practice-based learning opportunities for both Australian and UK visual sonic artists. This artist exchange aims to connect emerging and established Australian artists with international peers and mentors with the aim of creating more sustainable and diverse creative gateways for independent artists. In 2017, The SUBSTATION will lead an Australian delegation of artists to visit Cryptic's Sonica festival in Glasgow with an Australian artist taking up residence at Cove Park, Scotland in 2018, with the prospect of presenting in Cryptic's 2019 Sonica Festival. The SUBSTATION and Cryptic Exchange Partnership through its artist's residency, delegation, collaboration and development program, will help to create and solidify a sustainable and long-term exchange of ideas, new works, creative and cultural interchange.
