Aus4Skills is a ten-year AUD 86 million human resource development (HRD) program (2016-2025). It aims to improve the quality of Vietnam's human resources to contribute to Vietnam’s Socio-Economic Development. Prior to Aus4Skills, Australia focused on long-term scholarships in Vietnam, but expanded to broader HRD, including support to higher education, and vocational education and training (VET).
Aus4Skills Phase 2 (2021-2025) aims to support Vietnam’s socio-economic development through five components:
- Australia Awards Scholarships
- Alumni Engagement
- Higher Education Capacity Building
- Promoting industry linkages in VET
- supporting the development of a capable public service and, advancing women in leadership through the Vietnam Australia Centre.
The independent mid-term review (MTR) of Aus4Skills Phase 2 considered what is working well in the program, what should continue or be replicated, what should be improved, and what should or could cease. The report provided useful recommendations on efficiency and effectiveness over the remainder of this phase, and considerations for the design of the next phase of the program beyond 2026.
The Australian government agrees with the overall findings that Aus4Skills Phase 2 is a well-respected and highly relevant program. All recommendations have been either fully or partly accepted. The management response outlines actions in response to these recommendations.
