DFAT-UN Women Strategic Partnership Framework 2016-2021 independent review and DFAT management response

Summary of publication

DFAT and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) commissioned an independent joint review of its Strategic Partnership Framework (SPF) 2016-20 and 2021 extension (SPF 2016-21) to assess the partnership performance and arrangements over the period and to provide recommendations to inform the next SPF 2022-25. The SPF outlines the cooperation, strategic priorities, shared objectives and principles between DFAT and UN Women to accelerate gender equality and women’s empowerment globally.

Following a competitive process, International Organisation Development Ltd (IOD-PARC) was selected to undertake the SPF review from January-April 2021. The review findings are based on over 75 reviewed documents and the input of 85 stakeholders across 19 roundtable interviews with internal DFAT and UN Women staff, and external partners.
