The Classic Wallabies Indigenous Exchange was part of the Australian Volunteers Program’s efforts to increase the opportunities for Indigenous Australians to be involved in volunteering.

Between 2014 and 2019, the Classic Wallabies Indigenous Exchange supported 56 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to undertake overseas group volunteering assignments. Each group of Indigenous volunteers, aged between 18-35 years, worked with local school communities in rural South Africa to build sustainable vegetable gardens and refurbish classrooms over a five-week period.
