The Chair of the Australia-Indonesia Institute (AII), Professor Tim Lindsey, congratulates the recipients of a further nine AII grants for 2015-16.
"The AII strengthens links across all sectors of Australian and Indonesian society. The activities we are sponsoring will bring different and innovative perspectives to how we engage at a community level." Professor Lindsey said.
The nine AII grant recipients are:
- Biennale of Sydney - Indonesian artist, FX Harsono;
- University of Technology Sydney – Indonesian and Australian designers' collaboration;
- Christopher Hall - online cultural exchanges between university students;
- Australia-Indonesia Youth Association – youth exchange flagship activities;
- Flinders University - interactive cross-cultural school workshops in SA;
- Northern Rivers Writers' Centre – Indonesian writer Rio Helmi;
- Monash University - Ambulance and nurse training in Malang, East Java;
- Balai Bahasa Indonesia Perth - Indonesian language programs in WA; and
- Melbourne Symphony Orchestra – Indonesian film score composition.
These projects will help build sustainable partnerships, and increase the knowledge and understanding of each other's cultures, values and traditions.
Members of the AII Board thank all applicants for their interest. Applications for the next round of grant funding for activities commencing in the 2016-17 financial year opened on 1 February 2016 and will close on 21 March 2016.
