Project description

Flynn Talbot, a leading lighting designer, will create an engaging design installation in response to London Design Biennale (LDB) theme of 'Emotional States' to be the official Australian pavilion at the LDB 2018. Talbot will explore the emotion "Love" which is inspired by Australia recent legalisation of same-sex marriage. 40 countries and territories from 5 continents, will participate. Talbot's pavilion will be a free-standing, circular fibre optic screen that visitors can pass through and stand next to one another to be immersed in a shared experience of coloured light. Inspired by the new definition of what love means for Australia, the pavilion will be designed to evoke the colour, warmth and feeling of love in a 3D lighting installation. The piece is made of a 3.5meter high circular frame that is supported on 4 vertical tube legs, from which 170strands of 1.5mm fibre optic light are suspended to create a glowing light curtain.
