Meet our 2019 grantees
Sector: Arts and Culture
Country location: Australia, Republic of Korea
Grantee: Arts Tasmania, Department of State Growth
Project description
In 2020 and 2021 up to eight Tasmanian and South Korean artists will participate in the Arts Tasmania Jeju residency. South Korean artists will live and work on the island of Tasmania while Tasmanian artists will embed themselves on Jeju Island in South Korea.
These artists will engage with local communities through conversations, public talks and forums and collaborations. They will be exposed to new cultural practices and artistic interpretations. They will build connections between Tasmania and Jeju, linking the arts, education, community and understanding through small-scale, personal interaction.
These exchanges provide a framework for artists to act as cultural ambassadors to build greater awareness and understanding between Australia and the Republic of Korea.
The Arts Tasmania Jeju residency is a reciprocal artist residency exchange between Arts Tasmania and the Jeju Foundation for Arts and Culture. It is supported by partners the Cultural Development Network and Salamanca Arts Centre
