Project Description

Was. Is. Always - South to North is a project by Deakin University which aims to bring together researchers, students, industry, and other organisations involved in Indigenous design to create an International Indigenous Design Charter. Participants from Australia, Greenland, Iceland, Denmark, Norway and other countries will attend a forum at North Atlantic House in Copenhagen to develop the charter, based on the Australian Indigenous Design Charter, in order to outline the appropriate use of Indigenous knowledge in design practice. The forum will showcase international indigenous design from all over the world, but will include a strong focus on Australian Indigenous design. This is an opportunity to promote Australian Indigenous culture and industry in Denmark, the Nordic region and beyond.
