Australian Red Cross-Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Humanitarian Partnership 2019-2024 mid-term review and management response

Summary of publication

Australia is providing the Australian Red Cross with $50 million in humanitarian funding over a five-year period, from 2019 to 2024. This partnership emphasises the critical role communities play in disaster risk management and the essential relationship between Red Cross and Red Crescent national societies and the communities they serve.

Together, in accordance with our partnership agreement, Australian Red Cross and DFAT commissioned a mid-term review of the partnership’s programs from November 2022 – August 2023. The review looked at the quality of in-country collaboration between national societies and local government and community stakeholders, identifying program strengths and areas for improvement, including in ongoing localisation and facilitating inclusion and diversity. A complementary synthesis report captures and analyses reflections of selected stakeholders.
