To support strong institutions and cross cutting issues in Indonesia, our development partnership will focus on outcomes that ensure that:

• inclusive and transparent institutions are supported, including legal institutions and the judiciary, and are aligned with Indonesia's medium-term targets and long-term goals
• Indonesia's democracy is supported, including through constructive engagement, policy dialogue and knowledge sharing across government, communities, civil society, research organisations and media
• institutional links between Australian and Indonesian public sector institutions are stronger and continuing to grow

We will work together to support Indonesia's objectives of maintaining transparent and accountable justice institutions, reforming the criminal justice system and ensuring equal access to justice for women, girls and people with disability. We will also work with regional partners to counter violent extremism, support de‑radicalisation and address transnational crime.

We will partner with government and CSOs to increase inclusive participation in democratic processes. We will further strengthen ties by promoting people-to-people exchanges aimed at building mutual understanding of the rich cultural and religious diversity of Indonesia and Australia.

Building stronger and deeper institutional linkages between our governments, private sector, research and non-governmental organisations will promote knowledge sharing in support of our mutual interest in stability and prosperity.

We will prioritise trilateral development cooperation in the Pacific and will work together through multilateral development forums and institutions including Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and the Global Partnership for Education.

Australia Awards in Indonesia Program (AAI)

*$128 million, 2022 - 2030

Australia Awards scholarships are offered to the next generation of Indonesian leaders. Through long-term and short-term study and research, recipients develop the skills, knowledge, and networks to drive change and help build people-to-people links. Engagement with alumni (including those who self-fund their study) upon their return to Indonesia is a high priority for the program, to celebrate the achievements of Australian Alumni in Indonesia and foster their ongoing connections to Australia.

The Australia Indonesia Partnership Towards an Inclusive Society (INKLUSI) aims to empower civil society organisations (CSOs) and facilitate collaboration with the Indonesian Government at national and sub-national levels to contribute to inclusive development, including gender equality, women's empowerment, disability rights and social inclusion.

Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Justice Phase 2 (AIPJ2)

The Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Justice Phase 2 (AIPJ2) brings two previous Australian aid investments, the Australia Indonesia Partnership for Justice (AIPJ) and the Australia Indonesia Security Cooperation Program under a single investment to strengthen the rule of law and the security environment in Indonesia. The program includes work on promoting transparency and accountability of judicial institutions, reducing prison overcrowding through restorative justice, preventing violent extremism and transnational crime, and strengthening human rights through gender equality and disability inclusion.

The Australia-World Bank Indonesia Partnership (ABIP) is a 5-year, single-donor trust fund with the World Bank in Indonesia. It aims to support the Government of Indonesia's efforts to increase inclusive economic growth through human capital development, economic governance, jobs and social protection and infrastructure.

Responding to a request from Indonesia's electoral management bodies, Australia is funding the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and The Asia Foundation to work in partnership with local civil society organisations, the National Election Commission (KPU) and the National Election Oversight Body to strengthen electoral management and operations. The program seeks to strengthen inclusive procedural democracy and elections (particularly for women, youth and people with disabilities), promote civil liberties and counter misinformation and disinformation.
