Project description

Researchers in Korea want to expand their capability in biological control and invasive species management. The project will aim to develop a better mutual understanding of our capability and progress in key priority areas in invasive species and diseases. Stakeholders will join together and present research, risks and discuss opportunities to collaborate. We will develop a roadmap and strategy to plan and prioritise a joint future research pipeline and then progress these through further discussion, validation and prepare research proposals for future funding and impact. The symposium will be run over two full days with a networking event and group dinner on the first night with attendees and invited stakeholders. Areas of focus will be: managing invasive species; emergency animal disease detection and response; and biosecurity and market access. In the near term, we aim to invite research staff to visit Australia and train with our team via world-class facilities in plant and animal biocontrol. In doing so we aim to help protect and support the multi-billion dollar farming, production and trade industry between both nations. Our long-term roadmap and strategy will aim to highlight key risks, gaps and opportunities for collaboration and industry focused impact.
