Project description

This project is a technical workshop with site investigations on biogas cleaning and upgrading technologies in Korea. Currently having no biogas upgrading plants in Australia, a common practice is to burn part of biogas to generate power, resulting in a high maintenance costs and the release of large amounts of CO2. It is paramount to develop and employ biogas cleaning and upgrading technologies to produce high quality CH4 and CO2 in Australia, particularly in Queensland. In contrast, Korea has been commercially realising these technologies such as Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corp and Korea Institute of Energy Research. During this workshop, suitable options in the Australian context will be discussed and identified which will enable CSIRO to develop practical engagement with Korean counterparts, providing great opportunities to develop potential collaborations on implementing advanced technologies (including CSIRO novel technology) particularly in Australia.
