In Africa, DFAT's NAIDOC Speaker Series, "Because of Her, We Can' was celebrated with a regional public diplomacy tour from guest speaker Lee-Ann Tjunypa Buckskin, a Narungga, Wirangu, Wotjobaluk woman and Deputy Chair of the Australian Council for the Arts. Organised by South Africa, Ghana and Egypt posts Lee-Ann's tour formed a part of NAIDOC celebrations at the Australian overseas missions.

Lee-Ann's final stop in Egypt reinforced the message of NAIDOC Week and contemporary Australia to hundreds of people, from Nubian musicians and entrepreneurs in the far South, to Cairo-based artists, archaeologists and students, to refugees from Eritrea, Ethiopia, Syria, Sudan and South Sudan. Lee-Ann's messages about valuing and preserving culture, embracing diversity and multiculturalism and about women as community, leaders were well received. At the Grand Egyptian Museum, seeing 'boomerangs' or Egyptian 'throwing sticks' from Tutankhamun's tomb left her speechless.
