The Australian Consulate-General in Chengdu brought prominent Wiradjuri academic and writer, Dr Jeanine Leane, to southwest China for a series of speaking engagements. The events provided a valuable opportunity to enhance understanding of Australian Indigenous culture (particularly literary) and gender issues among local audiences. Dr Leane's events were well received and reported across a number of local media platforms.

A number of public dialogues were organised in both Chengdu and Chongqing, including between Dr Leane and Chinese-Australian artist Zhou Xiaoping before a local audience at the iChongqing Carnival. They shared perspectives on Australian Indigenous art and culture, discussed cross-cultural exchanges, and promoted communication and understanding among different ethnic groups.
