Summary of publication
This is a report on commencement of the Vanuatu Law and Justice Partnership and initial activities including consultations, agreed priorities for the partnership, and planned activities and budget.
The report confirms three components for assistance. The first component will improve how Ministry of Justice and Community Services leads law and justice sector policy, planning and resource allocation. The second component will support the Ministry of Justice and Community Services with its workforce and professional development planning, and training for law and justice professionals (from senior leaders and managers through to recent law graduates and paralegals). The third component will jointly design and implement an efficient and effective monitoring and evaluation framework that suits the Vanuatu context.
The report describes progress in the first two months to set up the project office, establish working relationships and negotiate commencement of activities in the three agreed areas. The report includes analysis of strengths and challenges for law and justice in Vanuatu.
