Indigenous Public Diplomacy
Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali missions hosted Julie-ann Lambourne, Torres Strait Islander business leader and CEO of Cairns-based enVizion Group, for a series of meetings, workshops and speaking engagements in July 2018. The visit offered the opportunity to highlight the achievements of Indigenous women and to deepen our engagement with the digital sector in Indonesia, building on the success of the Indonesia-Australia Digital Forum.
As a social entrepreneur, Julie-ann uses digital technology to help disadvantaged communities in Far North Queensland to overcome adversity. enVizion Group has created the world's first Virtual Reality Training Bus, which allows Indigenous communities in Northern Australia to access vocational training in new and innovative ways. Demonstrations of enVizion's virtual reality kit were a popular component of Ms Lambourne's engagements.
