The Papua New Guinea 2022-23 COVID-19 Development Program Progress Report is the final progress report against the Papua New Guinea COVID-19 Development Response Plan. The report provides a summary of program achievements and progress against performance indicators.

The “Sexual and Reproductive Health Integration Project” (SRHIP) aims to increase testing and treatment for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

The CSP was designed to take an integrated and comprehensive approach to strengthening clinical capacity in PNG by drawing on institutional partnerships with specialist Australian medical colleges, the World Health Organisation.

The “Saving Lives, Spreading Smiles” program aimed to reduce preventable maternal and newborn deaths in Papua New Guinea (PNG) by focusing on active monitoring of labour (particularly third stage), preventing and managing post-partum haemorrhage and providing post-natal care for mother and baby.

The Partnering for Strong Families (PSF) program aims to increase access to quality, integrated sexual and reproductive health, family planning and maternal and child health services in Papua New Guinea (PNG). The program is being delivered over two phases: July 2017 to June 2020, and July 2020 to December 2023.

Minister for International Development and the Pacific, the Hon Pat Conroy MP will travel to Papua New Guinea this week to represent Australia at the United States-Pacific Island Dialogue, to be co-hosted by Papua New Guinea Prime Minister the Hon James Marape MP and US Secretary of State the Hon Antony J. Blinken.

The COVID-19 Development Response Plan for Papua New Guinea has been extended through 2022-23.

In March 2022, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) commissioned an evaluation of Australia’s funding support to the Education Emergency Response and Recovery Plan (EERRP). The evaluation assessed the overall effectiveness of the EERRP in supporting the National Department of Education (NDoE) to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
